Heavy Industry & Foundry Grains for Bonded Abrasives
In the harsh environments of heavy industry and foundry applications, grinding and finishing processes directly affect the quality and cost efficiency of finished metal products. Materials such as coiled steel, steel bars, iron castings and pipes require the most durable abrasives with the fastest stock removal. Reducing grinding time alone significantly impacts productivity and the bottom line through reduced downstream labor and overhead charges.
Superior Performance and Long Life
The extensive use of abrasives over the years has created a large variation in their physical and chemical composition, as well as their actual shape. Saint-Gobain Abrasive Materials' unique manufacturing technologies produce the sharpest and toughest grains for bonded abrasives, resulting in industry-leading performance in terms of stock removal, wheel life and grain quality. With a stable, secure supply from multiple manufacturing sites, these contaminant-free grains enable grinding media to remove stock as quickly and as cost effectively as possible.
Outperforming Commodity Abrasives
Saint-Gobain Abrasive Materials' best-in-class, highly engineered ceramic materials are hard, extremely tough, and last much longer and cut faster than traditional abrasives.
- ZF/ZS Alundums for Bonded Abrasives
ZF 1525® is a dense and tough abrasive with a very fine crystal size. Crushed to produce a blocky shape with sharp edges, these grains are used in resin-bonded foundry-type grinding wheels, demonstrating remarkable life and removal properties. ZS 1526®also is a dense and tough abrasive with fine crystal size, but this maximum impact-resistant abrasive has an extra-blocky shape with a rounded, mulled edge, suitable for steel conditioning applications.
- Norzon NV for Bonded Applications
Norzon NV® abrasives are 40% alumina-zirconia grains that demonstrate spectacular cutting ability because of their inherent strength and high resistance to dulling. Saint-Gobain’s unique manufacturing process makes Norzon NV one of the most durable materials in the abrasives industry, outperforming commodity abrasives like brown fused aluminum oxide and silicon carbide.
Saint-Gobain cultivates strong, long-lasting relationships with its customers through close collaboration, working side-by-side to develop innovative solutions for their unique challenges.
